What patients say about Dr. Atassi

“Dr. Atassi quickly gained my trust when he showed his conservative dentistry.”
“He did not try to convince me to get unnecessary work done or get 100 fillings replaced/redone like my previous dentist. … Dr. Atassi discovered that the pain was coming from a loose older filling and took care of it for me in under 20 minutes with 0 pain or discomfort.”

“Very high ethical standards.”
“The doctor is not concerned with maximizing billings recommending expensive treatment to pump up his revenue. Instead Dr. Atassi and his hygienists focus on preventive care and education about how to avoid future dental problems.”

“Dr. Atassi is good at providing explanations to patients, which I feel is unique in healthcare.”
“I like the idea of having a dentist that is not affiliated with a large chain where every other time I visit, I get a new dentist assigned to me. Contrarily, the experience is much more personalized at Chicago Dental Boutique.”

Before any recommendation
Treatment starts with an examination. Dr. Atassi photographs your teeth and your smile, takes x-rays, checks the bite and the gums, and asks what you would like to change and what has been done before.
If you have older photographs of your smile, bring them. They help when deciding where the teeth should go.
You receive a plan and the cost before any treatment is scheduled.

Not every change requires veneers
Depending on the case, whitening, Invisalign or bonding may be recommended on their own, or before veneers. Whitening the natural teeth or moving a tooth into position can reduce the number of veneers needed.
When veneers are recommended, Dr. Atassi will tell you which teeth and why.
Veneers

Keeping as much of the tooth as possible
When a tooth is cracked, worn, or has a large old filling, a crown is one option. A crown requires the tooth to be reduced on all sides.
Where the tooth allows it, Dr. Atassi repairs it with a bonded restoration instead, such as an onlay. The damaged part of the tooth is replaced and the healthy part is kept.
Small problems that are stable may be monitored rather than treated right away.
Larger cases are planned as one
Some patients have worn or broken teeth across the mouth, an uneven bite, or jaw pain. These cases are planned for the whole mouth, usually in stages: the bite first, then the individual teeth, then the visible work.
“Dr Atassi believed that fixing my bite was essential to my pain relief and he was right.”

Questions about how treatment works.
Photographs, x-rays, an examination of your teeth, gums and bite, and a conversation about what you would like to change. You get a plan and the cost before anything is scheduled.
Not always. Whitening, Invisalign or bonding may be enough, or may come first. If veneers are recommended, you will be told which teeth and why.
It depends on the plan. A single restoration may take two visits. Whitening and Invisalign add weeks or months before any veneers are made. Your timeline comes with your plan.
Yes. Dr. Atassi reviews your history, previous treatment and records, takes his own photographs and x-rays, and tells you what he sees. Some second opinions end with no treatment at all.
No. In his words, his goal is not to sell treatment but to have you understand your teeth. You get a plan and the cost, and the decision is yours.
It depends on the plan, and the plan comes with the cost before anything is scheduled. Because whitening and alignment often come first, many plans involve less dentistry, and less cost, than people expect.
Work built on a settled bite and as much of your own tooth as possible lasts longest. Dr. Atassi still follows cases from more than ten years ago, and every case is followed the same way, year after year.
